History of the

Royal Theatre

Est. 1928 | Pacific, Missouri

Henry Hirth and Lorenz Leber began showing movies in 1913 with a hand-cranked projector & 150 folding chairs.

Tickets cost 10 cents for adults and 5 cents for kids.

In 1917, a 250-seat wooden frame theater was constructed and used to show movies for the next 11 years.

A brick building that could seat 500 was built and opened in 1929.

The existing wooden frame structure was relocated and used during the brick building’s construction.

There was shift to live performances around 1994, before the theater closed in 2000.

Brengard Custom Flooring purchases the building and paints the red facade a mustard yellow color in 2000.

Royal Theatre, LLC is created to purchase the property by Shauna, Sam, Matt, & Gary in 2021.

On December 7th, 2021, Royal Theatre LLC officially purchased and becomes the owner of The Royal.
